Benjamin Netanyahu was born on October 21, 1949, in Tel Aviv, Israel, to Benzion Netanyahu and Tzila Segal. His father was a renowned historian and Zionist activist, while his mother was an author and editor. Netanyahu grew up in a suburb of Jerusalem and attended high school in the United States before returning to Israel to serve in the Israel Defense Forces.

Political Career

Netanyahu began his political career in the 1980s as an advisor to Prime Minister Menachem Begin. He later served as Deputy Foreign Minister and Minister of Finance. In 1996, he was elected Prime Minister for the first time and served until 1999. After a period in opposition, he was re-elected in 2009 and has remained in office ever since, making him Israel's longest-serving Prime Minister.
